Five Card Poker Hand Values
Five card poker is when all the players are going to be dealt five
cards by the dealer. What is important what you are playing five
card poker is that you are not going to be able to get new cards, you can't
discard in the hopes of getting a better overall hand, but there are
still winners with every hand. The winners in five card poker are going
to have to rely on the luck of the cards instead of your ability to pick
and discard cards for hopes of getting a winning hand.
What you will need to remember is that the high card is going to win
in five card poker if none of the usual winning hands are present. The
winning hands are the pair, two pair, three of a kind, four of a kind,
flush, straight, straight flush and the royal flush.
Winning hands that start with a high card are going to be as such:
If there are two of you playing and the hands are 2,3,4,5,8 and another
has 3,4,6,7,2 the hand with the eight wins.
If there are three of you playing and the hands are 2,3,4,5,8 and another
has 3,4,6,7,2 and another has 3,4,6,7,8 the hands with the eight win
and will split the pot, or what is in the pot being played for.
There are all types of five-card poker, which the rules can change
a little by region, area or by casino. Be sure to read the rules of the
casino where you are playing to be sure that you understand fully what
is going on in the game of poker that you are playing.
Some games of poker will require you to have a certain card in your
hand to be eligible for a winning hand. This often is the ace. So in
the situations that we discussed above these would be the outcomes:
If there are two of you playing and the hands are 2,3,4,5,8 and another
has A,4,6,7,2 the hand with the seven wins because you had to have an
Ace to be a winning hand with the highest card.
Another example of this type of hand is:. If there are three of you
playing and the hands are 2,3,4,5,8 and another has 3,4,6,7,A and another
has 3,4,6,7,8 the hand with the Ace is going to win as the other two
hands do not have an Ace to start with as required for a winning hand.
